20 Years of CEITON

On 20 March 2020, we will celebrate our 20th corporate anniversary.

The Leipzig-based software company expertplace solutions GmbH was founded in 2000, then still called CEITON technologies GmbH. It all started with the vision to create a software that digitally supports office work and its business processes. With our workflow system, employees received information about their next tasks through dialogues. The software aimed at improving the standardisation of processes.

The first version of CEITON was delivered to the Central German Broadcasting MDR in Leipzig in 2006. With the growing requirements from MDR, the broadcasting segment of the software expanded too: A module for shift planning was introduced in order to schedule resources, and further applications were developed based on client requirements.

2020

Central Germany’s largest media service provider Media & Communication Systems (MCS) GmbH Thüringen has chosen CEITON as their scheduling system. We are very much looking forward to the cooperation the new users. The current software version 2020.2 was released in November.

2019

Rebrand: The CEITON logo was redesigned, and so was our website. We hope you like what you see. Keep an eye out for further improvements like these! The focus of the software development was on the redesign of the Time Tracking Module. We have also advanced our social commitment, both for our employees as well as for students.

2018

The first CEITON User Group Meeting took place at the MDR headquarters in Leipzig. International representatives of various private and state broadcasters were also present.

2017

Private broadcaster TV 2 from Norway became a new user of our software while Finnish public broadcaster Yle fully implemented our CEITON system.

2016

2016 was a significant year for our corporate growth: The public broadcasters RAI from Italy and Yle from Finland as well as the Austrian private TV broadcaster PULS 4 started introducing the CEITON system.

2014

The Hamburg-based film and television post-processing company Studio Hamburg Postproduction started using our software.

2013

In 2013, graduate communications engineer Bernd Krechel joined the company as partner and managing director. CEITON technologies GmbH was renamed to the current expertplace solutions GmbH. The company is a subsidiary of the Cologne-based expertplace networks group AG.

2010/11

The media companies Red Bull Media House and A&E Networks, one of the largest cable networks in the US, decided on CEITON.

2008

In 2008, the US subsidiary CEITON technologies Inc. was founded in Los Angeles as a contact for US-based media clients.

2007

Since 2007, we have regularly attended the international media roadshows NAB in Las Vegas, USA and IBC in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Our long-standing employee Chris Rosenbusch started working with us in 2001 as a graduand in software development. He still remembers the early years in the company well:

“I was looking for a company at which I could write my diploma thesis. CEITON sounded really interesting because everything was new there. I was specifically looking for a small company where you have a lot of room to develop and you can let your ideas run free. I wanted to be involved in building something up.

We were looking for a catchy name for the domain which also held some meaning. We collected, discussed and rejected ideas until we found the word “seiton”. The Japanese word used in workplace organisation means “neatness”. In the 1990s, the Japanese were known for widely standardising the working environment. Our product CEITON still stands for delivering the right information in the right form at the right time to the right resource. The first version of the software was released in July 2001.”
